God Plans and Supplies at the Annual ACMA Camp

Story by Angela Harding

The annual Australian Centre for Mission Aviation (ACMA) Camp took place from 1-5 July at the Coldstream Airport just out of Melbourne in Victoria.

student_with_bruce_searle_250ACMA is a mission aviation training facility affiliated with MAF International, AvServe, Helimission, JAARS, AIM and the Melbourne School of Theology to provide top quality mission aviation pilots and engineers to the mission field. The ACMA Camp is part of this commitment and vision.

Over one week, students from all around Australia undertake many aviation based activities gaining basic flight and engineering information, learning in the hangar and in the classroom, going on field trips, having a joy flight and a trial instructional flight both in the air and on the simulator if they wished, together with Christian input. The ACMA Camp is an opportunity for senior secondary school students to experience a taste of what mission aviation is all about, and it’s ACMA’s hope and prayer that out of this experience, a number of young people will commit to making mission aviation their long-term career.

This year’s camp was attended by 19 students (18 guys and one girl) all at different points in their faith journeys, but all enthusiastic about aviation. The theme of the camp was GPS – not ‘global positioning systems’ but God ‘plans and supplies’. And although we are experiencing staff shortages in many areas throughout the MAF family, we know this to be true. God has plans for our organisation (they may not always be ours) and He supplies our needs (even though we may have a different view of ‘our needs’). Our job is to commit our organisation (our staff, our ministry, our own plans) to Him and to thank and trust Him as He answers.
