Mission Aviation Fellowship is a unique Christian relief and development charity operating 130 light aircraft in over 30 countries. MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce, medical supplies, and Christian workers in the world’s remotest regions: places of deepest human need where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. We have operated for over 75 years and have developed into a substantial aviation services charity.

This is a key role and we are looking for someone who will take responsibility for and have a strong desire to deliver high-quality support services to our managers and employees. Reporting to the Chief Operations Officer and forming part of the global Operating Leadership Team, you will provide strategic leadership in the Asia Pacific region, including determining effective regional long-term strategies and short-term objectives.

As an organisation we want to ensure that the work we are involved with has the greatest impact in the places of greatest of need. On a regular basis each program will have a ministry effectiveness and efficiency assessment conducted. You will manage and improve the region’s operational service delivery to ensure maximum impact in line with organisation strategy and values. You will also encourage programs to develop partnerships that lead to effective ministry.

You will be responsible for the overall management of the region, including leading and developing a team of Country Directors. You will help them to provide the effective performance of others, including assisting with team development and mentoring, to aid decision making. You will also continue to seek out and develop potential future leaders.

An important aspect of the role will be compliance with an array of regulatory and legal requirements, along with best practice, for aspects including aviation, employment, risk management, and finance. You will oversee the region’s budget and be an active participant in the budgetary process ensuring that effective financial and internal controls are in place. You will also coordinate cross-program Operational activities.

You will actively engage as part of the Operations Leadership Team, so that there is a harmonised and co-ordinated working relationship between the Program teams,

Operations and Support function across MAF. As part of the overall leadership of the organisation you will establish positive relationships with all key stakeholders and attend meetings as required.

This role will require regular travel to the Asia Pacific programs and international meetings. Travel will be approximately 20-30% of the role. In addition, applicants need to be able and willing to work outside of normal office hours due to the time differences involved.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience


– Ability to make decisions based on a values-driven framework, particularly when resolving conflicting priorities
– Extensive leadership and general management experience at a senior level within a charity context
– Highly experience in an aviation or related field
– Self-starter, the strategist, analytical, commercially focused, and a team player
– Demonstrated ability to be able to build and maintain good relationships with all levels of the organisation
– Strong interpersonal skills
– Excellent communication skills and financial management experience
– Experience of living and working in a developing country
– Experience of working in a multi-functional team
– Experience in managing remote teams with a global footprint, including cross-cultural management experience
– Educated to degree level or equivalent
– Excellent spoken and written English
– Aptitude in verbal, numerical, and abstract reasoning
