Country Director, South Sudan

We are Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), a Christian organisation that utilises aviation and technology to provide assistance and hope to underdeveloped communities around the world.

MAF operations in Sudan are at the heart of MAF’s history, indeed it was in Sudan that the first flights of MAF in the UK originated. MAF provides air transport for Church Missions, NGO and relief and community development agencies. MAF’s first regular flight operations in (South) Sudan commenced in 1950. Many thousands of hours were flown serving the people of Southern Sudan in remote areas. MAF’s service to the partners and the people of South Sudan is essential, since the road network is poor throughout the country, and many roads are unpassable during the rainy season. Additionally, the security situation on the roads makes MAF’s flight service a necessity for many implementing partners.

As Country Director for South Sudan, you are at the sharp end of transformation as you work with our partners to reach isolated communities. The role requires you to direct MAF’s South Sudan strategy, and successfully navigate a significantly diverse, impactful, and dynamic environment. As the leader of a multi-national and intercultural team, you will be instrumental as you inspire and enable your team to achieve our strategic plans and vision. You will need to work with local partners, regulatory authorities, and country officials to achieve the programme strategies and goals.

Responsibilities
The Country Director will be strategic and driven to help spearhead our mission and vision to share the love of Jesus Christ by providing humanitarian aviation to transform individuals through help, hope and healing.

You will undertake overall management in the programme by leading, motivating, inspiring, encouraging and developing programme staff to facilitate their well-being and effective performance. You will ensure that all operations are conducted in accordance with the stated policies, directives and management practices of MAF and the National Aviation Authorities. Monitoring the programme budget and taking appropriate corrective actions where necessary will be essential for the smooth operation of the program.
