February 1 (Sunday)

As we begin praying this February, please pray for MAF’s global leadership. Ask God for wisdom, unity and discernment as they make decisions that guide the mission. Pray that they would be led by the Holy Spirit and strengthened as they serve, so MAF can continue bringing help, hope and healing to isolated communities.

February 2 (Monday)

Give thanks for our floatplane. Last year, it landed in remote Wanga Wanga, Papua New Guinea, for the first time! The pilots have gladly connected with the locals, sharing stories and building lasting bonds.

February 3 (Tuesday)

Mel Higgins (pg. 6) – Please pray for Mel as she continues serving MAF in Arnhem Land. Give thanks for the many opportunities God has provided through outreach flights, community relationships, milestones like reaching 1,000 flight hours, and the joy of being part of graduations and celebrations. Pray for wisdom, energy and encouragement as she supports young people, continues outreach in the new year and prepares for her upcoming home assignment.

February 4 (Wednesday)

Please pray for our pilots as they fly doctors around some of Chad’s remotest regions. The country has around 4 doctors per 100,000 people. Our aircraft allow doctors to reach isolated communities outside the capital quickly and safely, so they can administer healthcare.

February 5 (Thursday)

Please pray for the MAF engineering team in Mareeba as they maintain and repair multiple aircraft with a small crew. Ask God for strength, and wisdom and perseverance as they manage heavy workloads. February 9 (Monday)

Garrett and Katie Munyard (pg. 15) – Pray for rest, peace and strength as they complete last-minute admin and pack up their lives to move to Papua New Guinea in the coming months. Lift up their upcoming Transition Training in Melbourne and pray that Garrett would be well prepared for his exams and flight training in Cairns. Ask God to help them finish well in Melbourne and give them confidence as they step into what’s ahead.

February 10 (Tuesday)

Praise God that for decades MAF has been serving Good News Hospital in Madagascar. Praise Him that MAF aircraft can fly in doctors, supplies and medical support so remote communities can receive life-saving care. Pray that, alongside healing, the Gospel would continue to be shared and hearts transformed through this long-standing partnership.

February 11 (Wednesday)

Please pray for our MAF Timor-Leste team as they continue to operate through the challenges of the wet season. Ask God for wisdom and protection as weather conditions lead to unexpected overnights and flight turn-backs. Pray that, despite these disruptions, flights would still have lasting impact and that all operations would be carried out safely.

February 12 (Thursday)

John and Helena Hermanus (pg. 11) – Please pray for John, Helena and their family as they serve MAF in Mareeba. Give thanks for John’s travels to Timor-Leste, where he provides vital engineering support to keep aircraft flying, including for medical evacuations.

February 15 (Sunday)

Please pray for Juba Christian Academy in South Sudan, which is facing a significant shortage of qualified international teachers. Ask God to provide dedicated Christian educators so children, especially those of missionaries, can continue to receive quality, Christ-centred education.

February 16 (Monday)

Michael and Naomi Lindsey (pg. 6) – Please pray for Michael as he continues training and mentoring pilots, and as he looks ahead to joining the Arnhem Land team. February 18 (Wednesday)

Praise God for MAF’s aircraft maintenance engineers. Without their skill and dedication, our 11 light aircraft would not be able to fly. Praise God for their vital role in keeping aircraft safe and serviceable, especially within MAF’s busy Papua New Guinea program. Pray that God would strengthen, protect, and encourage them as they faithfully support every flight.

February 19 (Thursday)

Please pray for MAF as we explore and develop new pathways for people at different stages of qualification to join the mission. Ask God for insight, creativity and clarity as we seek ways to attract, equip and prepare those He is calling into aviation ministry.

Today, on World Day of Social Justice, we pray for God’s heart for justice, dignity and compassion to be lived out across the world. Give thanks that through MAF, isolated communities can access healthcare, education and vital support. Pray that God’s justice and mercy would be revealed though MAF’s work.

February 21 (Saturday)

Today is International Mother Language Day. We thank God for the richness of languages and cultures He has created. Pray for MAF flights that help transport Bible translators, teachers and community workers so people can hear God’s Word and learn and receive care in their own heart language. Ask God to bless efforts to preserve local languages and to help communication build understanding, dignity and connection in the world’s most isolated communities.

devotional – what is your life producing?

I recently attended the funeral of a close family member. As is often the case at funerals, stories were shared about the kind of person they were – their character, their kindness, the way they showed up for others. Listening to loved ones speak, it struck me that what they were really describing was the fruit of this person’s life.

It made me stop and think: when people are around me, what do they actually experience?

Do they feel encouraged and cared for?

Or do they walk away feeling drained, rushed or unheard?

The Bible describes this kind of fruit clearly:
“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.” (Galatians 5:22–23 ISV)

The truth is, fruit shows up in everyday moments – in conversations, reactions, emails and how we treat people when life is busy or messy. What we produce is shaped by what we’re connected to.

Through MAF, we see this play out in practical ways: a safe flight, a patient reaching medical care, a pastor arriving in a remote village, a community reminded they’re not forgotten. But this isn’t just about what happens on the mission field. God cares just as much about the fruit growing in our everyday lives.

Sometimes it looks like helping a friend who’s doing it tough.
Sometimes it’s having a real conversation about faith.
Sometimes it’s volunteering at church.
Sometimes it’s opening the Bible with someone who doesn’t yet know Jesus.
And always it is showing love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control – no matter what is happening.

These small, faithful choices matter. In God’s hands, they grow into something far bigger than we realise.

As we go about our days, may we stay connected to Jesus – so when people are close to us, they experience something good, life-giving and real.

Prayer:
God, help us stay close to You. Shape our lives so what we produce brings hope and points others to You. Amen.
