Growing up near Orange, NSW, a flight in a small plane at 17 sparked a passion for aviation. Around the same time, a school mission trip to Sri Lanka opened her heart to serving.

After completing flight training in 2021, God led Mel to MAF, where she first served in Arnhem Land as a reservations officer. Since 2024, she has been fulfilling her calling as a pilot in Arnhem Land. She loves the relationships she is able to build, while helping and working with the people who live in this remote part of the world.

She particularly enjoys coming alongside the school students, teachers and nurses she regularly flies, and has seen the impact of being a Miyalk (female) pilot. Having the opportunity to form connections with many female passengers from different walks of life has been especially meaningful. She has seen God place her in the right place at the right time to support and pray for many people in Arnhem Land, and she looks forward to continuing to listen to God and see where He leads her each day.
