MAF Student Leadership Program (Schools)

Posted: on March 6, 2022

The MAF Student Leadership Program for Schools aids students to develop valuable leadership skills while at the same time learning about the amazing work of MAF and how this organisation leads itself with integrity and passion.

The program is specifically designed for students who show interest and/or ability for leadership and the desire to develop these skills. This tailor-made program is for any year groups from 4 to 12 and can be conducted in person or via zoom.

Despite significant interruptions to schools in the past 2 years, to date, groups of students from a variety of different stages from the schools listed below have experienced the world of MAF through this Student Leadership Program. Waverley Christian College

Developing Christian Leaders: This group of amazing students from Waverley Christian College in Melbourne, took part in the 6 week online course run from MAF Australia’s offices in Sydney. Lessons included: exploring a Godly leadership vision, identifying your individual God-given gifts, speaking in public, how to have those hard conversations and a practical leadership project.

Wyong Christian Community School

The first time that MAF ran the Student Leadership Program at Wyong Christian Community School on the NSW Central Coast, four students participated, learning how to cast a vision, speak publicly, communication strategies and personal leadership skills. They also completed a MAF specific project which involved making a MAF recording suitable to be played at Junior School chapel, to tell the junior generation about the amazing work of MAF.

A year later, six new students (Year 11) from Wyong Christian Community School participated in the MAF Student Leadership Program. These students were a delight to work with and immersed themselves fully in the course content and activities. A great time of learning and fun was had by all.

Pacific Hills Christian School

It was with excitement and hopeful anticipation we took to the opportunity to present the MAF Student Leadership Program to all of year 4 (74 students) at Pacific Hills Christian School in Term 1, 2022.   The students were engaged for the whole day, had lots of fun, learnt valuable self-leadership skills and loved hearing about the work of MAF.

Term 2, 2022

In Term 2, 2022 in addition to school presentations and virtual reality programs, MAF Australia had the privilege of taking the four School Captains of Coolum Beach Christian College through the MAF Leadership Program.  A few weeks later we were asked back to Green Point Christian College to train 19 of their year 11 students in leadership as part of their prefect selection process.
