Finance Manager, PNG

Are you a certified accountant seeking a fresh and stimulating opportunity? MAF International is currently seeking a new team member to join our finance department in the Papua New Guinea program.

MAF is a Christian organization dedicated to using aviation and technology to bring aid and hope to underdeveloped communities worldwide. Established in 1945, MAF currently operates in 31 countries.

With a fleet of 116 aircraft, MAF offers essential transportation services to medical professionals, development workers, and humanitarian organizations worldwide. Additionally, we facilitate the delivery of Bibles, church materials, and other resources to communities with limited access to Christian teachings and worship services.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will encompass various financial tasks, including assisting in the formulation of the program’s annual financial plan, aligning it with the program’s tactical objectives. On a day-to-day basis, you will be responsible for compiling monthly financial accounts, including reforecasts for year-end projections.

Your role will also involve overseeing the accurate recording of financial transactions and conducting month-end reconciliations. Precision and methodical work habits are imperative in your role, and organisational skills are a must.

Furthermore, this position will entail leading a small team within the finance department. In terms of work location, you should expect occasional travel to remote bases for internal audits, as well as spending time in both office and field environments.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:

Tertiary accounting qualifications
Membership of a professional accounting body
Minimum 3 years accounting experience
Minimum 2 years experience leading a team
Excellent attention to detail, organised and methodical and responsible work habits
Must be willing to travel and spend time in both offices

Desirable:

Aviation experience
Cross-cultural experience strongly recommended
