Finance Manager, Arnhem Land

As a member of the senior management team in our Arnhem Land program you are at the sharp end of transformation, as you work with our partners to reach isolated communities.

You will be part of a team that is instrumental in helping MAF to achieve its vision. You will ensure all financial activities in the program are carried out within the approved annual budget and monitor internal control systems, taking corrective action where necessary. In addition, you will monitor and protect the financial and legal health of the Arnhem Land Operations. This will include ensuring MAF’s financial dealings comply with Australian tax law, overseeing internal management accounts and completing external financial reporting.

Responsibilities

In this role, we are looking for you to provide the financial management of the Arnhem Land program through overseeing financial transactions on a day to day basis, overseeing the program’s credit control, preparing annual budgets and overseeing the end of year activities.

You will provide financial information and advice to our Program Director and other department managers, including advising on the financial implications of proposals discussed. You will manage the working capital and cash flow of the program and report financial results and data to the support office in Cairns as necessary

You will need to manage the financial risk by implementing and maintaining accounting systems and internal controls that comply with MAFI finance manuals.

The role will require good communication skills, as liaising with lawyers, accountants and other advisors may be required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential requirements include;

Qualified accountant (CA or CPA or equivalent)
Experience in accounting systems and internal control procedures
Experience in preparing budgets and accounts

Desirable requirements

Cross cultural experience
Knowledge of reporting requirements of Australia
Experience in managing relationships with auditors, bankers, and lawyers
