Isolated communities are still waiting…
In the remote communities of Timor-Leste and Arnhem Land, someone is waiting right now. They are waiting for help, and as the minutes tick by, that wait is filled with a nagging pang of worry that won’t stop until they hear the engine of a MAF plane coming.
For most of us, waiting is an inconvenience. But in these communities it is the difference between crisis and safety.
Help us meet our target of $395,000 to complete the vital refurbishments of P2-MAG and P2-MAH. You can help end the wait for remote communities in Timor-Leste and Arnhem Land.

Let’s end the wait together
Help us raise $395,000 to end the wait together.
Right now, we have two planes available to serve remote communities in Timor-Leste and Arnhem Land but they require critical upgrades to make them mission-ready.
Your donation will help fund the refurbishment of P2-MAG and
P2-MAH, bringing life-saving help to isolated communities who are still waiting.

The Problem
Help shouldn’t have to wait for clear skies.
In Timor-Leste, MAF operates the country’s only air ambulance service. This service is a crucial lifeline for isolated communities, especially during the wet season when roads are in poor condition.
However our current fleet is restricted to visual navigation only, meaning our planes are unable to operate during periods of poor visibility or at night. Poor visibility is most common during the wet season, which means people in remote communities are left waiting when help is needed the most.
Your support will help us achieve IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) status in Timor-Leste. This will allow our pilots to navigate safely using instruments alone, enabling MAF to operate flights at night and during periods of low visibility.

Safety waits
as families nervously prepare their homes for an inbound cyclone.
Health waits
as an ambulance struggles to navigate unsealed roads.
Hope waits
as education lies out of reach for cut-off communities.

6x
Faster Access to HOSPITAL Care
In Timor-Leste, travel from the isolated community of Los Palos to Dili, takes 6 hours by road, or just 50 minutes by air.
40%
INCREASED FLIGHT SPEED
Every minute matters in a medical evacuation, and P2-MAG is able to fly faster than our existing aircraft.
24/7
EXTENDED FLIGHT WINDOW
IFR technology removes the constraints of darkness and low visibility – unlocking additional flight availability.
+25%
INCREASED MEDEVAC CAPACITY
In 2025, the Timor-Leste program flew 321 medevac flights with three planes. Expanding our capacity means more patients can be helped.

Testimonials
See how your gift will change lives on the ground in Timor-Leste and Arnhem Land.
“One of the hardest parts of my job is knowing I have to leave a patient that needs our help waiting, because the conditions don’t allow us to fly.“
Ping Domtta
Country Director and Pilot, Timor-Leste
“The accident was very bad… If it weren’t for the MAF plane, I would rather just choose to die in Maliana because there was no way I would reach Dili alive by road. When I heard the plane was coming for me, I was very happy.”
Cristiano Monis Martins
19-year-old student, Timor-Leste
“Before Cyclone Narelle hit, we evacuated 70 residents from isolated homelands to safety. When the storm passed and left roads impassable, we returned to deliver 1.7 tonnes of food. It was great to see the residents happy to receive their food as they helped unload our aircraft.”
Rhett Griffith
MAF Reservations Officer
