Deputy Facilities and Vehicles Manager – PNG

✈️ Mission-Powered | Adventure-Approved 🌍

Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a global organisation using light aircraft to bring help, hope, and healing in the name of Jesus to over 30 developing countries. For more than 75 years, we’ve been flying into some of the world’s most remote and hard-to-reach places — delivering patients, relief teams, Bibles, and essential supplies where roads don’t go and time is critical. In many of these places, flying isn’t a luxury — it’s a lifeline.

One of our largest and most vibrant programmes is MAF Papua New Guinea (PNG) — a country known for its rugged terrain, remote villages, and deep cultural diversity. With only 18% of the population living in urban areas, access to health care, education, and basic supplies often depends on MAF. From emergency medevacs to delivering food, vaccines, and hope — we’re transforming lives across PNG, one flight at a time.

If you enjoy getting things fixed, keeping people moving, and making sure facilities don’t fall apart while everyone else is flying or fixing planes? Got a knack for juggling tools, schedules, people and spare parts? Then we’ve got the job for you! Join us as our Deputy Facilities & Vehicles Manager in PNG!

You’ll be the right-hand to our Facilities & Vehicles Manager — a crucial role supporting MAF’s infrastructure on the ground. From managing buildings and workshops to ensuring our vehicle fleet is safe, serviced, and road-ready, you’ll help keep everything moving smoothly so our planes can keep flying. This role is for someone practical, people-focused, and mission-minded — someone who thrives in organised chaos, loves a challenge, and wants their work to matter.

Responsibilities
What you’ll be doing:
  • Supporting the Facilities & Vehicles Manager in making sure all buildings and vehicles are safe, well-maintained and mission-ready.
  • Training and guiding our maintenance crew like the brilliant coach you are.
  • Jumping in to lead the team when the Manager’s away.
  • Helping plan and roll out maintenance projects (some simple, some super-sized).
  • Making sure our vehicle fleet is dependable.
  • Keeping budgets on track, tools in the shed, and safety in everyone’s sights.
You’ll be great at this if you:
  • Know your way around building maintenance and vehicle care.
  • Enjoy working with people (and occasionally coaxing equipment back to life).
  • Can think on your feet, solve problems, and still keep smiling when things go wrong.
  • Love helping others grow — especially our awesome local team.
  • Can handle spreadsheets and spanners.
  • Are keen to serve in a role that supports God’s mission on the ground.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Your Toolkit should include:
  • Solid experience in building maintenance and vehicle management.
  • Leadership skills and a heart for mentoring.
  • Problem-solving mindset and hands-on attitude.
  • Ability to work cross-culturally with patience and clarity.
  • Strong organisational skills and budget awareness.
  • A servant heart and desire to support MAF’s mission.
