Why are some donations tax deductible and others not?
Gifts or sponsorship to support the relief work of MAF International (ABN 32 004 260 860) in Australia, made through “MAF Assist DGR 1 ABN 23 301 106 261” are tax deductible.
Not tax deductible
Tax deductibility on donations is only allowable by the Australian Tax Office in respect of approved relief and development activities. For this reason, tax deductibility is not available for sponsorship of staff working for MAF Canada, MAF USA and MAF Australia (Sydney), nor for support of evangelistic outreach and other non-qualifying activities.
Melissa’s childhood included a couple of family trips to outback Australia, but she never imagined she’d be heading back one day!
After being transformed by the love of Jesus at the age of 21, Melissa completed her primary teaching studies. She went on to teach for 13 years, mostly in an independent Christian school where she expected to remain forever. But God had other plans, and called this ‘home country girl’ to step out, move out, and walk in the fullness of who she was made to be…on the other side of the country!
As a Family Support Worker, Melissa’s role is to support MAF families serving in Arnhem Land. Melissa’s passion is to see people of all ages and backgrounds experience God’s love in a real way. This role gives her the opportunity to ‘walk out’ her love for God and come alongside others to encourage them in their daily walk.
Melissa is both thrilled and humbled to join MAF in serving the remote communities of the world, and is committed to walking hand in hand with Jesus as He continues to use MAF to bring hope, love and light to Arnhem Land and beyond.
I prayed to the Lord and He answered me. He freed me from all my fears. Those who look to Him for help will be radiant with joy; no shadow of shame will darken their faces.Psalm 34:4-5
