The Story

Melissa’s childhood included a couple of family trips to outback Australia, but she never imagined she’d be heading back one day!

After being transformed by the love of Jesus at the age of 21, Melissa completed her primary teaching studies. She went on to teach for 13 years, mostly in an independent Christian school where she expected to remain forever. But God had other plans, and called this ‘home country girl’ to step out, move out, and walk in the fullness of who she was made to be…on the other side of the country!

As a Family Support Worker, Melissa’s role is to support MAF families serving in Arnhem Land. This gives her the opportunity to ‘walk out’ her love for God and come alongside others to encourage them in various aspects of daily life. Melissa’s passion is to see people of all ages and backgrounds experience God’s love in a real way, so she also finds great joy in being involved in the local church and the community in general.

Melissa is both thrilled and humbled to be working with MAF in serving the remote communities of the world, and is committed to walking hand in hand with Jesus as He continues to use MAF to bring help, hope and healing to Arnhem Land and beyond.
