South Sudan Program - Reuben & Emma Vermeulen

Sent from: MAF in Canada
Serving in: South Sudan
The Story
Reuben was born and spent ten years in Western Australia before moving to Ontario with his family. He grew up in a Christian home and felt called to missions following an MAF event in his early teens. Reuben attended Prairie College, where he trained to serve as a mission pilot. After graduating, Reuben secured a position as a medivac pilot, where he gained valuable experience that prepared him to serve with MAF.
Emma was raised in Alberta and was taught about Christ, her Saviour, from a young age. She has always felt drawn to service, which led her to be an active participant in her church, a leader at Bible camp, and, ultimately to study nursing at Prairie College. After college, she continued to feel a draw towards service and missions.
Reuben and Emma met at Prairie College in 2016 and were married in November 2018. They joined MAF in 2020, moved to Kenya in 2021, and then to South Sudan in 2022. Reuben and Emma, along with their three children Jacob, Rhett, and Breanna, enjoy living and serving in South Sudan despite the challenges that are part of the complexities of daily life there.
Please pray for Reuben, Emma, and their three children as they continue to bring help, hope, and healing to the people of South Sudan.
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! – Psalm 46:10 (ESV)
