The Story

Matt and Rebecca grew up together as family friends near Baltimore, Maryland, USA. After pursuing separate interests for many years (including the start of Matt’s flying lessons), the Lord brought them together again in 2006. They were married in 2007 and moved to Sydney, Australia for a job opportunity for Matt in sales and marketing. After learning about MAF, Matt finished his pilot’s license and Rebecca obtained her Master’s degree in Linguistics before they joined MAF in 2016.

Matt and Rebecca, along with their three children – Luisa (10), Oscar (8), and Rosalie (6) – are currently serving in Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, Australia. They spent their first 4 years on the field living in a remote community, in order to immerse themselves in language and culture and build solid relationships. Now, for their second term, they have transitioned to Nhulunbuy, a larger town. Matt will have more advanced flying duties and opportunities to use his background in business, and Rebecca will do more intense language learning and teaching. Together they will continue outreaches to homelands where they have built relationships, in order to see people come to Christ, develop a deeper knowledge of His Word, and be encouraged to go make new disciples themselves.
