The situation in Sudan
In Sudan, people are being killed, kidnapped, and trafficked. Women and children are subjected to sexual violence. Families are torn apart. Entire communities are starving.
The bloodshed is visible from space, yet unseen by the world. The rising cost in aviation fuel is placing immediate pressure on our ability to keep our aircraft in the air. And when our aircraft can’t fly, isolated communities and displaced families are left completely cut-off.

Meet Sarah
The war forced 20-year-old Sarah to flee Sudan, her home. Leaving everything behind, she and her sister escaped into South Sudan in search of safety. But their journey was one of heartbreak and horror…
Today, Sarah is living in Renk. She misses her home, her church, the life she once knew, and the future she was supposed to have. Food there is scarce; healthcare is limited.
And the trauma she carries isn’t going away. It’s a wound that refuses to heal.

Fuel prices have risen worldwide and, for MAF, this has created a significant and unexpected increase in the cost of keeping our planes in the air.
Fuel costs are now projected to exceed our 2026 budget by up to AU$1 million, placing increasing pressure on our Fuel Fund.
And yet, the mission continues.
Every day, MAF planes fly into some of the most isolated places on earth.
We carry patients in medical emergencies, support refugee aid, respond to situations of domestic violence, enable education and many other flights.
