MAF in Uganda
MAF has been operating in Uganda for almost 40 years, working in partnership with national church groups, mission groups, development and relief agencies and other non-Governmental organisations (NGOs). .
With the vast needs of the people within Uganda and its surrounding neighbours, the work of MAF is a vital lifeline. Each year MAF flies to over 45 destinations and serves over 7,000 passengers.
Our Operation
Uganda is a landlocked country, located in East Africa. It is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. Uganda also includes a significant portion of Lake Victoria with isolated islands needing timely connections to the mainland.
Despite making enormous progress in reducing poverty right across the country, Uganda relies heavily on the support of foreign aid.
Along with the needs of the people in Uganda itself, the country is a refuge for those fleeing from conflict. Uganda currently plays host to more than a million refugees from South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, resulting in many people in desperate need.
With unsafe road conditions and danger of flooding during wet season, overland travel in Uganda is time consuming and often dangerous.

To overcome these challenges, MAF operates one Cessna 206, and four Cessna 208 Caravans. With 80 dedicated personnel MAF serves over 300 organisations with travel, logistical and technical needs and transported more than 7,000 passengers.
MAF planes provide safe and timely transport for aid workers and mission partners to locations where they are assisting victims of violence, providing nutrition, education and healthcare to children or delivering training in farming techniques and livelihood support that is lifting households out of poverty for good.

MAF Uganda’s shuttle flights also support ministry to local and displaced persons in South Sudan and East DRC.
MAF has served in Uganda since 1986. Today, MAF operates out of Kajjansi airfield just out of Kempala. MAF Uganda is the maintenance and training hub for all of East Africa, providing training for MAF pilots across MAF globally and maintaining aircraft for other MAF programs as well as other mission aviation operators.
