The Story
Josh and Ely strive to live their lives under God’s Kingdom values – believing that every human is made in God’s image, deserving love and respect; and that following His plan is the best way to live. They have been blessed with four beautiful children and the busy life that encompasses, with Evelyn, Margot, Reuben, and Dorothy.
The journey to Arnhem Land started with God making individual career paths for Josh and Ely. Josh felt called by God to train as a Licenced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer with the objective of working with MAF one day. He has been working in the general aviation industry since 2009 across various locations in Victoria. Ely has seen God guide her into a career as an Occupational Therapist working in the Melbourne public mental health service since 2011. This has given her counselling skills and empathy for many diverse groups
Josh, Ely and their children have been living in Arnhem Land since 2023. The opportunity to be in this beautiful, wild and remote location is a privilege; as is seeing the impact MAF make in the daily lives of the Yolŋu people here. MAF flies children and teachers to and from boarding school and remote community schools, health care workers, church pastors and domestic violence evacuations. For many, a life of health, hope and healing would not be possible here without MAF. It’s amazing to see how God uses ordinary people to do His work and to bring Him glory.
“And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.”
2 Corinthians 9:8 (ESV)
