Mareeba in Far North Queensland is ideally situated to serve the heavy maintenance needs of field aircraft, supporting our programs in Arnhem Land, Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste. Mareeba is equipped to provide major overhauls, repairs, modifications, repaints, avionics upgrades, stores support and more.
For 40 years the facility was located in Ballarat, Victoria, but moved to Mareeba in 2003 in order to be closer to field operations, privately leasing a hangar at Mareeba Aerodrome.
On 24th June 2022, two new MAF hangars were officially launched. This purpose built facility will set us up for decades to come, serving our people, our aircraft and remote communities more effectively.
In February 2015 the MAF Training Centre opened its doors at the Mareeba Airport. Partnering with Aviation Australia in Cairns, the MAF TC offers quality flight training with a specific focus on preparing pilots for mission aviation.
The Mareeba Airport is about 70km inland from MAF’s head office in Cairns. Boasting 300 sunny days a year, it is the perfect location for flight training.
