Eradication of Poverty

International Day for the Eradication of Poverty
17 October
Today, we pause to remember the daily struggle of millions around the world who live without access to income, opportunity or basic necessities, and to stand together as part of the solution.
The Reality of Poverty
More than 700 million people, that’s around 8% of the world’s population, live in extreme poverty, surviving on less than AUD$2.15 a day.
In South Sudan, one of the world’s poorest nations, the situation is even more dire. Of its 12 million people, around 80% live below the poverty line.
Decades of conflict have displaced families, destroyed farmland, and left communities cut off from essential services. Roads are impassable, food is scarce, and hunger has become a daily reality.
South Sudan is one of the world’s poorest nations. Of its 12 million people, around 80% live below the poverty line. Decades of unrest have left millions of people displaced and communities struggling to survive. With farmlands abandoned and roads impassable, food shortages are widespread, and hunger has become a daily reality.
Together, We Can Make a Difference
For 24 hours, we’re rallying together to raise AUD$10,000 to help remote communities in South Sudan access the care, connection and hope they deserve.
Every dollar makes a difference, helping to bring vital supplies, medical care and support, to those who need it most.
Join us today and be part of changing the story.
