We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Finance Manager to lead the finance team based in the Cairns and Mareeba support offices. In this role, you will work in collaboration with the International Finance Manager to support the effective and smooth running of operations in the Asia Pacific region.

As the Senior Finance Manager, your role will be to provide financial management and reporting oversight by preparing accounts for audit, overseeing annual budgets and reports, and visiting Asia Pacific programmes from time to time to provide support.

In this role, you hold financial responsibility for nominal ledgers and restricted and designated funds. You will also maintain the fixed assets register and oversee sales ledgers and other debtor accounts. By monitoring the financial progress of projects, you will ensure that deadlines are met.

You will oversee the day-to-day management of the Cairns Finance function. You will do this by managing staff through supervision, performance management, and training and development. By providing your leadership skills to the team and organisation, you will maintain financial control, manage cash flows, oversee insurance and prepare and submit all statutory returns, including GST and BAS.

In supporting other finance activities, you will provide training for new incoming staff, ensure that statutory filing is completed on time, and respond to queries as and when required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Graduate, holding an internationally recognised accounting qualification and institutional membership
• Extensive finance and management experience
• Knowledge and experience of Australian pay, employment and tax regimes
• Ability to work with cross-disciplinary teams
• Possessing insight into inefficiencies and potential solutions
• Willingness to question and challenge existing systems and structures
• Be proactive
• Willing and able to learn
• Professional in all aspects of a role
