Manager Maintenance Support, Flexible Location

Mission Aviation Fellowship is a unique Christian relief and development charity operating 130 light aircraft in over 30 countries. MAF transports patients, relief workers, produce, medical supplies and Christian workers in the world’s remotest regions: places of deepest human need where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. We have operated for over 75 years and have developed into a substantial aviation services charity.

To continue enabling our Technical Operations service around the world, we now require a Manager Maintenance Support who will be responsible to ensure alignment of procedures and best practice in maintenance. We are looking for someone with excellent technical skills, who loves to develop and build others up, and with excellent management and financial experience. The ideal candidate is someone who understands and values different cultures, and has the experience to ensure best engineering practices for our operations. Location for this role is flexible, however, it is highly desired for the successful role holder to be based in one of our operational locations.

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will monitor resources to identify opportunities to meet demands and ensure redeployment prospects is understood. You will also work in close collaboration with those accountable and responsible for accomplishment and certification of maintenance across all MAFI programs. Reviewing, identifying and promoting best practice through consistent engagement and collaboration with all stakeholders is essential. This will ensure we pro-actively identify issues, trends, and ensure actions to mitigate risk and improve efficiency are relayed to the appropriate Technical Operations teams across all MAFI programs.

This role also requires you to monitor our engineering resources and ensure efficient and effective redeployment opportunities are realised for personnel, equipment, and spares. You will greatly assist MAF’s response activities by establishing benchmarks and standard resourcing levels, and maintaining a pool of engineering personnel to cover demands, such as special projects and home assignment relief. You will also monitor inventory levels for maintenance in conjunction with persons responsible for each region to maximise availability and minimise waste.

You will lead logistics management and coordination of equipment and spares by reviewing and monitoring, to realise value and monitor repair cycle process for components.

There is some international travel required for this role of up to 8 – 10 weeks per year.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential:
– Further education, Degree level or equivalent experience
– Hold, or have held a license that is equivalent to a license in category B1, B2 or C
– Training in Quality and Safety Management
– Training in Human Factors
– Experienced engineer, with broad line & base maintenance experience
– Experience in managing and working in a remote team (virtual department)
– Experience in dealing with various national aviation authorities
– Ability to make decisions based on a values driven framework, particularly when resolving conflicting priorities
– Excellent spoken and written English
– Demonstrated Christian maturity and leadership
– Emotional resourcefulness
