Our ‘Manager in Training’ program will give you the chance to experience how to lead a multi-national multi-cultural team while navigating a variety of complex functions in the highly regulated aviation industry. While living overseas, you will be challenged to learn about our overseas operations working with our staff, local partners, regulatory authorities, and country officials. You will be an instrumental part of what the operational program must accomplish to achieve the purpose and vision of MAF.

You will be a part of a two-year training program, and if successful, will transition to an established management position for the next two years. Training includes living in one of our international programs, shadowing and working with the Country Director, mentoring, coaching, completing project assignments, alongside a full learning curriculum.

This role requires a high level of participation, collaboration, active learning, resiliency, and drive to achieve the end goal of being a senior-level manager in our organization. We are looking for people who have some management and leadership background but may not have aviation or overseas mission experience.

Responsibilities

The ‘Manager in Training’ syllabus will cover a number of areas. You will shadow the department heads for each of these to gather a full understanding of the day to day activities and key responsibilities:

Strategy and ministry assignment – participating in strategic research with current and potential customers and reviewing customer key activities and trends, evaluating the impact and effectiveness of MAF work. You will identify ministry needs and develop new key partner relationships where appropriate and contribute to the development of annual ministry plan and help to set ministry objectives

Operations and maintenance assignment – Evaluate and make recommendations for provision of enhanced customer service, demonstrate skillfull handling of customer complaints and roll out agreed improvement projects

People and management motivation assignment – You will participate in all staff and heads of department meetings, staff performance meetings, prayer meetings and project manage issues raised in the staff satisfaction survey

Quality, safety and security (QSS) assignment – You will gain understanding of policies and objectives internal and external from CAA (Civil Aviation Authority). Contribute and make recommendations to safety and quality risk assessments and promote safety and quality assurance from a management perspective to all staff and customers

Finance and legal assignment – Understand policies and objectives for internal and external country governmental laws. Gain an understanding of finance systems and participate in financial and legal meetings with head of departments

Airfield management assignment – You will gain knowledge of airfield construction project to ensure full understanding of property management. You will research future airfield business development needed and make recommendations

Support activities assignment – Support in manage logistical projects as and when required. Find solutions to housing needs and issues. Understanding the promotion and marketing of the program

Qualifications, Skills & Experience
Essential

Educated to degree level or equivalent
You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and Power Point
You will be proficient in writing proposals and official documents
Fluent in English language
Experience in people management

Have experience in at least four of the following:

Have financial and budgetary experience
– Managed a multi disciplinary team/function
– Experience working / living in a multi-denominational mission context
– Quality or safety management
– Customer service/Partnership development
– Project management

Desirable

Professional qualification or training in management
Experience of discipling or spiritual leadership in the Christian faith
You will have experience of working in a cross-cultural environment
Fluent in more than one language
General aviation experience
