Manager in Training, Uganda

MAF has been seeking to serve some of the most isolated communities across the world using aviation and technology for over 70 years.

We recognise we need to invest in training MAF managers of the future to continue this vital work. To do this we are launching a ‘Manager in Training’ scheme based in our Uganda programme. We are looking for people who have previous management experience but may not have aviation or overseas mission experience.

The ‘Manager in Training’ syllabus will cover a number of areas. You will shadow the department heads to gather a full understanding of the day-to-day activities and key responsibilities in each of the following areas:

• Strategy and ministry
• Operations and maintenance
• People management and motivation
• Quality, safety and security
• Finance and legal
• Airfield management
• Support activities and logistics

The scheme will run through a series of learning interventions including a mix of shadowing, project assignments, mentoring, coaching and study. It will be for a 4 year term – with an initial 2 year training programme followed by a move into a management position within MAF for those who successfully complete it.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential :

Educated to degree level or equivalent
You will be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word and Power Point
You will be proficient in writing proposals and official documents
Fluent in English language
Experience in project and people management
Experience in customer service

Desirable:

Professional qualification or training in management
You will have experience of working in a cross-cultural environment
Fluent in more than one language
Experience working / living in a multi-denominational mission context
General aviation
Quality or safety management
Partnership development
