HR Manager, PNG
Papua New Guinea (PNG) is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. It is also one of the most rural, as only 18% of its people live in urban centres. Most of the population live in very remote areas where walking is the only option. Getting to the nearest hospital or town often involves days of treacherous trekking through hills, rivers and forests.
We have a great opportunity for a HR Manager to join our programme in PNG. This exciting role is crucial in supporting the Country Director in achieving the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives. You will also work closely with the Asia Pacific HR Manager, and the International Recruitment Manager to provide HR Advice and support to Management and Staff of MAF PNG.
You will need to have the desire to work with people and see staff developed and nurtured professionally. Using your HR experience you will manage the recruitment and induction of international and locally employed staff. This would involve you working with the PNG Orientation Committee, MAFI Recruitment team and management of HR functions.
As the HR manager in PNG, you will oversee all the maintenance of employment contracts, housing agreements and be involved in implementing effective HR policies, procedures and systems.
You must maintain a good working relationship, with the MAFI pastoral team, and member care functions. This role will include visits to our other bases in PNG and occasional international travel.
As part of the PNG leadership team, you will actively contribute to the team meetings and discussions. You will also oversee the OH&H Officer, Educational Staff, Hostel Parents, Member Care volunteers and HR Department staff.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
A formal academic qualification in the area of Human Resources from a recognised tertiary institution or a related field or relevant MAF experience
3 years management or HR experience
MAF experience or an interest in missions
