Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using aircraft to deliver help and hope across the developing world. MAF transport patients, relief workers, produce and medical supplies to the world’s remotest regions and places of deepest human need – places where flying is not a luxury but a lifeline. We operate in over 30 countries with over 130 planes.

We operate in Papua New Guinea, which is one of the most culturally diverse countries in the world. Only 18 percent of its population live in urban centres. The majority live in very remote areas with little or no transportation options. Getting to the nearest hospital or town often involves days of treacherous trekking through hills, rivers and forests.

We now require an Executive Officer to work alongside our Country Director, to provide a range of high-level executive, secretarial, and project support services. This exciting new role is crucial in supporting the Country Director and leadership team in achieving the organisation’s strategic and operational objectives.


To participate in general management activities and support the Country Director – You will be required to research and provide information to the Country Director and the leadership team and ensure efficient use of resources. You will also be required to support the team and relevant Boards with information and statistics and identifying issues for decision-making.

Overseeing funded projects and reports – You will be responsible for monitoring, updating and managing project activity as well as measuring and reporting the effectiveness of it. Additionally, you will prepare, manage and review the provision of high-level communications and correspondence including, briefings, reports, submissions and notes to ensure the comprehensiveness, accuracy, and timeliness of written information.

The key challenges in this job will be anticipating and addressing contentious issues and providing accurate advice on complex issues and legislation, often within tight timeframes, given the need to collect and assimilate information from a variety of different sources whilst maintaining confidentiality and exercising diplomacy.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Relevant tertiary education and/or “hands-on” equivalent experience in leadership and management experience
Analytical business expertise
Experience in working in a developing country
Previously worked in aviation or a related field
Experience in working with teams and stakeholders
Experience in strategic planning and budgeting
A background in administration or management
