Chief Engineer, Madagascar
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is an organisation using light aircraft to deliver help, hope, and healing through aviation to people who are living in isolation and poverty. MAF has been operating in Madagascar since 1989. Its one of the poorest islands in the world with nearly 50% of children under 5 suffering from malnutrition.
MAF partners with church and mission organisations to enable people to receive primary healthcare, agricultural development, education, evangelistic outreach, and disaster relief.
We are looking for a Chief Engineer to join our Madagascar team. This person will be responsible to manage inspections, equipment, stores, engineering staff, and maintenance activities to ensure we are meeting international aviation standards and MAF standards.
Your role will be to ensure that all maintenance that is completed is compliant with MAF, national and international aviation maintenance standards within the scope of the capability listing of the AMO. All parts must be sourced from approved suppliers and be accepted in accordance with receipt procedures and work is carried out by certified licensed staff.
You will support the effective performance, training, and development of all aviation maintenance staff by assessing, monitoring, and developing training plans and providing feedback, coaching, and mentoring.
Working with the Country Director you will help develop a strategic and tactical plan, ensuring that the hangar and all aircraft support equipment is maintained according to the relevant schedule and that all necessary and applicable airworthiness information s available to engineers.
You will manage compliance and continual improvement in the maintenance department by actively participating in the Quality Management system and ensuring the involvement of all staff. You will liaise with the Quality Manager to effect timely corrective actions in response to non-conformity.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
– ICAO Aviation Maintenance Engineer
– Licence without type-rating or with specific type rating or with specific type ratings as appropriate
– National Aviation Maintenance Licences as required
– Aptitude in verbal, numerical, abstract, and mechanical reasoning
– Team management or project management experience (working with others)
– 5 years of experience as a licensed engineer
