Asia-Pacific Regional Communications Manager, Flexible Location

MAF’s 116 aircraft, provide vital transportation services to medical personnel, development workers, and aid organizations across the globe. The organization also delivers Bibles, church materials, and other resources to communities with limited access to Christian teaching and worship services.
Role Overview:
As the Communications Manager for the Asia Pacific Region, you will play a vital role in leading and overseeing the capture and sharing of inspiring stories, challenges, and achievements of MAF AP programs. By creating engaging content and collaborating closely with teams and stakeholders, you will highlight the impact of our mission and inspire support.
Responsibilities:
As a key member of MAF’s global communications team, the Regional Communications Manager will be responsible for leading communications activity across the region, building strong relationships with stakeholders and teams, both local and remote, and collaborating with the global communications team to align strategies and messaging.
Other primary responsibilities include:
• Creating innovative communication campaigns and content to inspire and recruit individuals to serve the least reached communities.
• Leading communications activity across the Asia Pacific region, including developing communication strategies, managing social media channels, and working with local communications representatives.
• Building strong relationships with local teams, the global communications team, and external stakeholders.
• Collaborating with the global communications team to align strategies and messaging.
• Working across cultures and demonstrating sensitivity to different cultural contexts.
Your role will be to ensure that MAF Resourcing Groups receive accurate, detailed and timely information to support fund-raising activities, staff recruitment and prayer activity.
You will supervise the Communications Officers based within MAFI’s Asia programmes and provide guidance, support and training. In the event of disaster response within the region you will collaborate with the Communications and Disaster Response Team to coordinate the gathering of information, imagery, and film, making it available to the wider MAF community within 24 hours.
You will ensure all communications provide a positive image of the people we serve and protect the reputation of MAF. This will include implementation of data protection requirements and promoting ethical story gathering practices across the region.
For this position you will need to be able to travel, sometimes at short notice if reporting on disaster response.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a track record of leading communication campaigns and managing projects.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote and cross-cultural environment.
• Flexibility and initiative to build relationships and collaborate with teams at a distance.
• Knowledge or experience in evangelical Christian mission work is desirable but not essential.
• Qualification in communication related subject, such as journalism
• Minimum of 2 years experience in a communication role
• Experience in capturing and generating strong content for donor reporting, print publication, website and social media channels
• Experience in line managing or supervising others
Desirable:
• Completed university education
• Experience in a fund-raising and / or marketing context
• Experience in shooting and editing video
• Experience of working in the third sector
• Experience of PR and media handling, particularly in response to emergency coverage.
